Snow days in Georgia

It snowed Sunday night and we haven't left the house since. Yes, snowed in. No school. No work. No orthodontist appointments. No quick trips to the grocery store for milk and bread. That's right - I didn't plan very far ahead. I thought we would be thawed out by now - we usually are in this part of the world -  so I didn't rush to the grocery store along with everyone else on Sunday afternoon to stock up.

Wednesday will be our third day of icy roads and no school. Very unusual for us - we are lucky to get one snow day per year. This time it is very possible the schools around here will be out of business for a whole week. We still have milk, but we are down to one slice of bread and a few hoagie rolls. Maybe we can clean out a few cabinets - eat those crackers that have been hanging around a while.

We are enjoying the novelty of it all. Staying up late. Sleeping late. Playing games together and watching movies and football. Zach was able to stay up for the whole National Championship game Monday night - if school hadn't been canceled he would have had to go to bed before the exciting Auburn/Oregon game was over. (Why do they schedule those bowl games on school nights? Not fair!!)

On the down side - Amy was scheduled to get her braces off on Tuesday, but that has now been postponed. Ugghhh. She feels like she will have braces for the rest of her life. When she got the braces she thought she would be out of them by September. Here it is January -  and it looks like she may be right - she'll have them forever. 'Cause this snow is never going to melt.

Amy has a community theatre audition coming up on Saturday. Surely we will be thawed out by then. She is looking forward to finding a new role to play. These photos show her dressed and ready for her latest role, in December, with the church youth Drama Club.

She was a real riot as 'Les Ismore' in Nativity Idol. Sooo funny - our little comedian!

The snow is fun for a while. But I think we are all looking forward to getting back to normal soon.

Did anyone else get any Singamajigs for Christmas? Our favorite Chistmas toy this year.

Here they are:

Aren't they cute!?

You squeeze them and they sing! They harmonize with each other!

They are really fun! Yes, our favorite toy this year!
We are easy to please.

Ok, I think we are ready for some warmer weather now. Please? Thank you!!

Hope you find yourselves thawed out and able to make it to both the grocery and orthodontist soon. Sometimes togetherness is fun. Sometimes, after a while--especially if it's forced by nature, it can feel a bit, um, prisonlike. Hope it doesn't turn that way for you all.

As for Singamajigs, YES we did discover them. We gave one to my nephew and kept one for ourselves. My teenagers love to give it CPR. Hilarious.
