Show biz in her blood

We are getting close to opening night now of Camp Rock, the Musical. Amy has been out late every night for a couple of weeks going through final rehearsals and ironing out last-minute details. As a homeschooler, she can take it better than some of the others. She can sleep later each morning. I really feel for all those public and private school kids in the cast who have to be at school early each day. They aren't getting home  til 11:30pm either, but they have to get to school so much earlier than Amy. Frankly, I'm not sure we'd be doing this if we didn't homeschool. It's just too hard.

But for those people like Amy who live to be on stage, these last couple of weeks have been great! They love staying late at the theater! They love working on dance moves until their muscles scream. They love fine-tuning a song, and could stand at the piano for hours getting it just right.

They LOVE the stage, and nothing is better than the grueling 2 weeks before a show opens.
 Except opening night.
And each and every performance until the final one.
They can be exhausted and grumpy when it's all over.
But for now, it's magic!

I practically had to drag Amy out of the theater at 11:00 the other night. She was one of the last ones out, and as she walked across the stage to the exit she looked all around her, breathed deeply, and exclaimed, "I freakin' ADORE an empty stage! The possibilities are endless!!"
Oh yes.
And she also adores a full audience!

Rock on, Amy!
